carving pumpkins
unicorncaptin asked:

can I use a carving pumpkin, like the ones used for jack-o-lanters for pumpkin pie

  1. I’ve heard that some people do, however, I haven’t. Most I’ve used is the seeds to bake for pumpkin seeds. Which for some reason, after they are baked and cooled and put into a container? No one touches…. think I’ll quit doing it this year.

  2. yes, not the best tasting though.

  3. Yes you can. You can also toast the pumpkin seeds to eat. It might sound funny but it’s a good snack.

  4. Yes, just get the recipe.

  5. You can but what you really want to use are the small sugar/pie pumpkins which as sweeter and will give the pumpkin taste that you are use to.

  6. You can, but carving pumpkins are typically more “stringy” and wouldn’t give you the right texture.

You’re better off using a “pie pumpkin” which you can find at the grocery store this time of the year. To be honest, canned pumpkin is just as good, too.

  7. You can, but the texture won’t be as creamy and the pumpkin may not be as flavorful.
