What is the best way to attach decorations to a pumpkin that you are not carving?

We’re having a Hallowe’en party with a pumpkin decorating contest. This is for kids ages 3 – 6 and younger. They won’t be carving the pumpkins. I plan on having paper, stickers, and other arts and crafts stuff for them to put on the pumpkins. Can we just use Elmer’s glue or what else might work to attach things to the pumpkins for kids this age?

Use glue sticks. Elmer’s glue + kids = big mess.

Maybe double stick tape would stick to the pumpkin better but they would probably need help with that too. I am planning on using paint and/or markers with my 4 year old. You might offer that too.

I think paint pens would be perfect…if not paints or markers would be best for those little hands. You might want to try to glue yarn on them too…best of all have fun!!
