A Haunting Experience

What will you dress your small child as this Halloween? If your little kid is over three years old, then you may be racking your brain to come up with another clever Halloween costume idea. Rather than struggling with sewing an elaborate costume to match the newest preschool fad, how about creating a charming yet simple and traditional costume? People will go ‘awww how cute’ when they see your little sweetie decked out in our ‘Easy Child’s Cat Costume’ idea. Make the effect even more adorable with the appropriate face paint as well. Don’t spend a fortune on face paint when you can use our ‘Easy Halloween Face Paint’ recipe to doll up your darling this Halloween.

Keep your child safe this Halloween by avoiding using face masks that can hinder your child’s vision and potentially cause an accident. Read on below to get started planning your kid’s easy cat costume and face paint.

Easy Child’s Halloween Cat Costume Idea

Piece of Cardboard for cat ears

Felt that matches your leggings and turtleneck

Plastic headband

Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Long piece of fabric or felt to make a tail

Large safety pins

Dark turtleneck

Dark leggings

Large sweatshirt (optional)

Fabric paint or fabric pens (optional)

Draw triangle shapes about 3 inches tall and 2 inches wide on the cardboard. Cut out the ears. Cover with felt using hot glue. If you use dark brown or black as your turtleneck and legging color then you can use a basic tortoiseshell or black headband. If not, then cover the headband with the same color felt as your cat ears. Glue the ears to the headband. You can easily make a cat tail by using a long piece of fabric rolled into a long tube and filled with stuffing and then hot glued at the seam. You can pin the tail on the legging seat or attach with Velcro for safety.

You can either make your cat a ‘skinny’ kitty with just the turtleneck and leggings, or you can add a sweatshirt in an accent color to give some added depth and warmth to the costume and your child while outside. A cute idea if using a sweatshirt is to take some fabric paints or paint pens and write cute little sayings on the shirt in whimsical lettering. Write things like ‘meeoow’ or ‘Happy Meow-o-leen’ etc. You can also draw little mouse shapes and cat paw prints. Finish your child’s easy cat costume by painting a simple cat face on your child’s face. Use our face paint recipe to create a cat nose, mouth outline and whiskers. If you want you can cover your child’s face with a light base coat and then paint the details on. Have a medium and a small liner paint brush for different size details.

Easy Halloween Face Paint Recipe

1/2 tsp cold cream

1/2 cup

1/2 tsp water

Different colors of food coloring

Mix cornstarch, cold cream, water, and enough drops of food coloring to make the color vivid in a cup. If you’re making several different colors then have more cups available. Stir well and add more cornstarch if too runny.

But don’t stop with Halloween! Try it at your next party whether it’s for Bridge, a birthday, or a spontaneous get together. It’s easy to make and easy to eat!

What you’ll need:

– 1 10-ounce package peanut butter crackers (miniature size)

– 1 11-ounce package of small pretzels

– 1 10-ounce package M&M’s

– 1 18-ounce package candy corn

– 1 cup sugar

– 1/2 cup butter

– 1/2 cup light corn syrup

– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

– 1 teaspoon baking soda

First things first; preheat your oven to 250 degrees F.

Next, mix the pretzels and peanut butter crackers and put aside. Then in a good-sized saucepan, combine the sugar, butter, and the corn syrup. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring it over medium heat and simmer it for about 5 minutes.

Next, remove from the mixture from the heat and stir in the vanilla and the baking soda. Then you’ll need to pour the hot mixture over the pretzels and crackers and stir until everything is coated.

Transfer the entire mixture to a greased baking pan and bake at for 45 minutes. You should stir it every 10 minutes or so. Remove it from the oven and break it all apart while warm. Allow the mixture to cool completely.

After it’s all cooled, transfer the mix to a large bowl and toss it with the candy corn and M&M’s.

The nice thing about this recipe is that you can make it ahead of the bewitching hour and store it in airtight containers until you are ready to use!

Enjoy!

Though Halloween has always been about scary things like ghosts, goblins, and witches, some get more excited about things that are pretty disgusting. Though your children may not want to eat Brussels sprouts or broccoli throughout the year because they are ‘gross,’ this is one time of the year when they are going to go bonkers for the chance to slice into a brain, or to perhaps gobble down a handful of severed fingers. We may never understand the difference, but we can certainly go with it. Find some fun and gross Halloween recipes to serve on this fun day.

If you can make Jell-O, you can come up with some pretty gross Halloween recipes on your own. You may have to shop online to find them, but there are some very interesting Jell-O molds out there that can help you make brains, fingers, and other interesting body parts. If you would like to serve a heart in a bowl of blood, this is the way to go. You have to come up with the right colors for these gross Halloween recipes, but they should be simple enough to make. Don’t forget to use strawberry sauce, or something else that is darker red, to have for the blood. Things are much more disgusting when they come with some blood.

1) 1 box of Jello

2) I jar of strawberry sauce

3) 1 big bowl

Use a jello mold to make an eye ball. Pour the Strawberry Jelly or Strawberry sauce over the eye ball and place in the bowl. Put the bowl in the refrigerator to make it hard.

You can also do some interesting things with spaghetti for gross Halloween recipes. Things like this are screaming out to be made into something truly yucky. You can come up with a thick, dark red sauce and then use it to make what would look like intestines. This may not make things good to eat, but they are going to be interesting. Find some type of item that you can use to present the intestines, and you are going to gross your kids out – just like they have wished you would do.

If you are good with baking, you can make some gross Halloween recipes that involve decorating things with eyeballs and other icky items. You can make cupcakes that look like giant eyeballs, or perhaps you could cut up a cake to decorate as something that is going to repulse and delight your children or your other guests. These ideas for gross Halloween recipes work well at home, but don’t forget to share them with others that you love. If you are having a party of any type, be sure you have enough to serve all of your guests. It’s a party they are not soon going to forget.

Halloween recipes are a very exciting aspect to this particular holiday. This is the one holiday in which most of us are allowed to feel and act like a kid again without worrying over the criticism of our peers. There are many exciting adventures and activities that can be pursued to enhance the overall “persona” of this particular holiday.

However, one of the best ways to enhance the spirit of this holiday is to whip up some fun and excitement with a few spooky and spectacular Halloween recipes! Here, I will provide you with the details on a couple of recipes that are among my personal favorites. My hopes and intentions are that these recipes are ones that you will find hauntingly inviting! If not inviting, maybe they can at least give you a nice little spook!

Sugar cookies are exceptionally popular when it comes to spooky and spectacular Halloween recipes ideas. There are many different types of cookie cutters available that represent common schemes and themes of this particular holiday. You can purchase cutters that are shaped like bats, ghosts, pumpkins, monsters, and more!

All you need for this particular recipe is about two cups of butter, three eggs, two cups of sugar, five cups of flour, one teaspoon of vanilla, and approximately three to four tablespoons of milk. Simply mix all of your ingredients together and then roll out the mixture – much like you would for biscuits. Next, take your cookie cutter and break the shapes. Then, use food coloring to enhance the appearance of the cookies and bake on 350F for approximately ten to fifteen minutes!

The next spectacular haunted Halloween recipe that I am sure that you will love and your guests will find appealing is witches brew. This is sure to be an interesting centerpiece for any type of Halloween party! First, you will need to gather some basic supplies. These are a pack of raspberries, two cups of cranberry juice, approximately two liters of ginger ale, some unflavored gelatin, and gummy candy that reflects the Halloween theme – like worms or snakes.

Spiders are great if you can find them in gummy style! Combine the raspberries and the cranberry juice in a rubber glove and freeze it. Then, take the leftover raspberries and put them in the base of a bowl, and top with the gelatin. Next, all you have to do is add the frozen “hand” you created earlier and pour in the ginger ale. Once this is done, add your scary gummy creatures and you are all set! As you can see, there are many fun and scary Halloween recipes available!
